Prof. Dr. Prakit Vateesatokit, President of the Smoking Cessation Foundation, said that on World No Tobacco Day, 31 May, the World Health Organization has set the slogan "Take off the mask of the cigarette and e-cigarette business: Nicotine, addictive to the point of death", which is considered a reiteration of the fact that cigarettes and e-cigarettes are dangerous. From the survey on the smoking behavior of the Thai population from 1991-2024, it was found that Thailand was able to reduce the smoking rate from 32% in 1991 to only 16.5% in 2024, representing a reduction rate as high as 48.4%, especially in the North, where smoking decreased the most at 58.3%, which is a good sign, while the South decreased by 29.1%, the lowest of all regions.
